With a leisurely 40 km / h, the steam locomotive pulls the historic cars up the way to the "highest station in Northern Germany" located at 1125 meters.
For the last section starting at Drei Annen Hohne (542 meters in height), the actual Brockenbahn, the locomotive needs just under an hour on the nearly 20 kilometer-long winding route.myheimat.de/schierke/freizeit/mit-der-hsb-von-wernigerode-bis-zum-bahnhof-brocken-d2772722.html

The HSB (Harzer Schmalspurbahnen) have parked a (red-colored) tank wagon with extinguishing water on the Brocken for possible accidents. The wagon stands on a trolley.
This tank wagon was only in Drei Annen Hohne and was subsequently painted by the HSB.
It only serves as an extinguishing agent reserve and is shut down again in winter.

Most of the time the year prevails on the Brocken fog / poor visibility, but if you catch a good and clear day, then you can see quite well up to 100 km. Obligatory is the pea soup with buck sausage.
