The Freseteich is a pond in the Marienfelde district. Today the pond forms the northern end of the royal moat. The drainage ditch was created in 1777 by order of the Prussian King Friedrich II to drain the Marienfeld field mark and served there as a receiving water. It originally ran through Lankwitz to the Bäke, but was never able to completely take over the intended drainage function. After Lichtenrades was flooded several times in 1926 and 1927, an 11-kilometer-long drainage canal was built west of the Lankwitz harbor, which flows into the Teltow Canal.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freseteich
