After crossing the Lämmerkar on the ascent from the Preintalerhütte, you reach the Klafferscharte and with it the area of the Klafferkessel, a former glacier floor in which a large number of small lakes of different sizes have formed. The lakes and the view of the peaks all around offer the ideal backdrop for a rest before tackling the ascent to the Greifenberg!

The Schladminger Tauern Höhenweg between Gollinghütte and Preintaler Hütte leads through the Klafferkesseln nature reserve. They are a relic of the last Ice Age. From the Greifenberg, I was particularly fascinated by the beautiful turquoise, ice-blue lake below the summit. It took me longer until I finally found him because of the differences in altitude so that I could be very close to him.
