The Heiligenkreuz pilgrimage church is located approximately four kilometers northwest of Kremsmünster. About 10 minutes away, the Schacher circular hiking trail no. 43 runs through the European protected area “Untere Traun”, which also includes the Schacherteiche ponds in the surrounding Schachenwald forest. The pilgrimage church and the local recreation and bird sanctuary are worth a visit at any time of the year.
