"Old Lübeck stood here until 1138", the Slavic predecessor settlement of the Hanseatic city.

From the hill you have a beautiful view of Schellbruch, Schwartauwiesen and Teerhofsinsel and the other paths on the small peninsula around the location offer one or the other worthwhile view. Certainly nothing in terms of driving technology, but if you don't want to go for a walk, an off-road bike is a good choice.

Alt Lübeck, the Slavic predecessor of today's Hanseatic city, is located on a peninsula between Trave and Schwartau. In the Middle Ages, the place was the seat of a prince and the center of an empire that stretched from the Bay of Kiel to the Oder. In the center of the well-preserved castle wall you can see the remains of a church from the early 12th century. The castle wall and church were destroyed in a Slavic uprising in 1138.

From the Lübeck-Travemünde cycle path, a short detour through a reed meadow. When I drove it, you could go through it by bike. It was a narrow path, very muddy, but easy to drive on with an MTB.

A very nicely located place, right on the Trave.

At the moment, in addition to the well-preserved castle wall, you can also see the church foundation of Lübeck's mother church, as the whole area has just been freshly mowed. (On June 7th, a service was held here for the first time in 880 years. This open-air service was part of this year's 875th city anniversary.)

The path through the reeds, on the other hand, has grown even further. (But it splits in the right place if you steer courageously into it ;-)
