This piece "Trave-way" is an old towpath along the water. On it, the ships were formerly pulled by humans or horses. The narrow path separates the Trave from the Schellbruch, an exceptional nature reserve: Trave, lagoons, freshwater ponds, stream, ditches, temporarily flooded meadows and forest pools are in close proximity to each other. In them live numerous and species-rich, partly rare and endangered animals and plants. And he is a first-rate bird paradise. So far more than 200 different bird species have been counted. Also, the Schellbruch has the largest contiguous reed beds in Lübeck. In May, the rosehip bushes bloom along the path.

A nice detour is the "goose path". It leads right through the Schellbruch to a viewing platform on the Great Lagoon.

The trail is part of the Hanseatenweg, which leads from Cologne to Riga. The sign reads: "Like the Hanseatic League, the Hanseatic League should also promote common interests and contribute to the understanding between cultures and people from foreign countries, with Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The Trave on one side, the lagoon with the reed belt and the bird paradise on the other side are only a few meters away from the "Trave-Weg". Definitely a worthwhile trip.

A very beautiful route through untouched nature. On one side the Trave and on the other the nature reserve Schellbruch and in between a narrow path leads through. It is a bit bumpy, but also suitable for touring and trekking bikes - at least some of them came to meet me. With an MTB fully, however, it is much more relaxed there.

How were the big sailing boats of the Baltic Sea brought to the port of Lübeck in the past? The towpath was created by the hooves of the horses that were allowed to pull the heavy merchant ships along the Trave to Lübeck. This is exactly the way to get to the men's tunnel along the Trave. The paths are also peppered with sea buckthorn bushes and are therefore ideal for collecting and hunting. It starts on the street An der Hülshorst. Before this path merges into the Am Schellbruch, you can find a small forest path on the left. If you follow this and do not turn into Schwarzer Weg, you will land directly on the Treidelweg to Gothmund. Although this path is very narrow, it is beautifully situated on the water and is also worthwhile for walks and bike rides. In the middle of the path you have to cross a small bridge, because there is an outlet pool for the Trave. This area is crowded with birds of all kinds and is very quiet. It is also fun to see the thick boats that run Lübeck-St. Use the Petersburg Canal to get to Lübeck and watch it roll through the narrow fairway.
