Los Gigantes is located on the second highest cliff in Europe, the "Acantilados de los Gigantes", the "cliffs of the giants" and therefore has its name. These rocky cliffs of black volcanic rock fall up to 450 meters vertically into the Atlantic Ocean and are a fascinating eye-catcher. In the time of the natives, the so-called Guanches, these lava rocks constituted a wall of hell and were an insurmountable obstacle to reach the interior of the country. So it happens, that the Barranco, which empties here, is called "Barranco del Infierno", in English: Höllenschlucht. Just below the giants is a small beach called "Playa de los Guios" with black sand, which is definitely worth a visit.

In the evening, at sunset, the rocks shine.

The cliffs are gigantic in themselves, and a trip here is worth it. We took the tour ourselves; I wouldn't book a tour through a travel agency or local provider for this detour.
