    Hiking

The twin town of Joal-Fadiouth is located in the Thiès region of the Petite Côte Senegals, southeast of Dakar. The neighboring island of Fadiouth, which can be reached either from Fadiouth via a wooden walkway or a pirogue from Joal, is a cemetery island made entirely of shells. Protected by large baobab trees, Christians and Muslims rest side by side on small hills of shells over the surrounding mangrove forests.

The cemetery is connected to the town by a bridge. A unique cemetery where both Christians and Muslims are buried.
