In 1717, today's church was built from the chapel, an early Baroque dome building with a double-towered facade. Courtyard oratorios connected by galleries were added to the arms of the cross, a vestibule with a gallery and two towers were placed in the west, and an accessible basement was designed. Joseph II had the Leopold Church desecrated and closed in 1784. In 1786 the Leopoldsberg and the church were sold by the imperial-royal camera administration to the Klosterneuburg monastery and re-consecrated in 1798 by provost Floridus Leeb.
