Taoulat El Miara was founded in the 15th century, although the area is believed to have been used to bury Jews since the 12th century.
The cemetery has over 20,000 graves. The left corner is dedicated to around 6,000 children who died during a typhus epidemic in the 19th century

I've never seen a cemetery like this. It is very well maintained and you could talk to the guards about the history of its origins
