We passed here on our tour to the Schlossberg in Waldeck. A nice place to take a break.
The Fatima Chapel was built by the villagers between 1947 and 1949 at the suggestion of the clergyman, Georg Pilz, and has been the center of the village ever since. At the same place there was a stone grotto built by Johann Weigl at the turn of the century. In 1948 Johann Sertl donated a bell for the chapel. The price at that time was 480 DM. Despite all the difficulties caused by the post-war period and the currency reform in 1948, the building of the chapel was completed under the direction of master builder Josef Steiner, Ziegelhütte, in time for the inauguration in July 1949.
