Danube Gorge (Weltenburg Narrows)

The world-famous Danube breakthrough in the "Weltenburger Enge" is probably Germany's most important breakthrough valley. The landscape at the Danube Gorge has attracted people at all times and is still a tourist highlight and heavily frequented. Whether on foot, by bike or by boat, it is a gorge that is absolutely worth seeing, the 40 m high rock walls rise steeply and the river is just 110 m wide here. The "Lange Wand" carries heavy iron rings at different heights, on which the skippers used to have to pull their "Zille" up with the hook.

The boat trip to Weltenburg Abbey is worthwhile.

Often visited by tourists and locals. Many swim there. But beware. Danube is fast there. Also 2 days ago a man drowned and was found dead again 15 km away. It's not the first time people have died.
