The Jahrsdorfer Haus was built by nobleman Veit in 1523 as a representative city seat. It is the only noble residence still preserved today and is very beautifully situated with a view of the city lake.

The wealthy lords of Jahrsdorf were among the most important noble families. The nobleman Veit von Jahrsdorf had this representative “free house” built for him in 1523. As part of a large court complex, it came with special privileges for him and his descendants. The cellar and ground floor come from a Romanesque residential tower. The facade shows a half-timbered structure typical of the time with crossing head and foot struts. The brick infill is only painted onto the plaster as an illusion. The north wall with the hipped roof is placed directly on the city wall. The battlement could be preserved here.

"...We also immediately noticed the former aristocratic residence in the Jahrsdorfer Haus. It is connected to the city wall and, with its half-timbered beams filled with red bricks, is a real piece of dirt..."
