For more than 120 years
is the restaurant "Villa Reichswald"
a popular destination of tourists and Lower Rhenish.
On the edge of the Xantener and Marienbaumer Hochwald
With 1,100 hectares, the Villa Reichswald lies on one of the highest elevations of the Lower Rhine.
Original (built in 1887)
was it a hotel
built by the Boxteler Eisenbahngesellschaft (NBDS),
whose railway line connected the Netherlands with the Lower Rhine.
Later until 1936 it was used by the family Pastors as a spa
"Villa Reichswald" led, with bowling alley and the first Harttennisplatz of the district Kleve,
as the most beautiful excursion on the Lower Rhine.
In late 1936 Arnold Poen acquired
from Uedemerbruch
the entire property
"Villa Reichswald",
which in the war years
strong through heavy fighting
was destroyed.
