Albertstrand is located between Duinbergen in the west and Knokke and Het Zoute in the east.
The seaside resort was created after the bank wall that Knokke-Bad connected to Duinbergen in winter 1921-1922, during a storm for an important part. The country, which was owned by the development company Société de Knocke-Duinbergen-Extension (Society for Expansion of Knokke-Duinbergen), which was founded in 1911, lost its value. and was bought by Joseph Nellens, a wealthy Antwerp industrialist and senator. On April 6, 1922 the latter acquired 220 hectares of the area. His Société Immobilière Knocke Balnéaire began allocating the area.
Nellens wanted to build a thriving seaside resort and proposed to the Ministry of Public Works to tear down the undamaged parts of the dike and build a new one 100 meters inland. This is how Albert Beach came into being, named after King Albert I at the time. According to the plans of town planner Hermann-Josef Stübben from May 18, 1900, the construction of a large number of huts began.
The dike was completed in 1925 and then the plan for building a new casino was implemented. This was opened on July 5, 1930.
Joseph's son Gustave Nellens followed his father as director of the casino, and in 1971 his son Jacques Nellens followed. The casino also organized numerous cultural events under the direction of these directors.

As the beach promenade shows, it is typically Belgian - sophisticated and well-kept 🥰
