The school was inaugurated as Sülfeld elementary school on December 12, 1913 with the participation of the then assessor of Gut Borstel, Josef Graf Baudissin. The new building had become necessary because the previous thatched school burned down on August 14, 1912. In the new building, which cost a good 36,000 Reichsmarks, three classrooms for 60, 66 and 70 students, a teacher's apartment and four rooms under the roof for unmarried teachers were created.
After the Second World War, the school had to be revitalized. Refugees had to be accommodated in Sülfeld. The number of students grew to 376 - half of them were children of refugees. In 1946 Sülfeld had 715 local residents and 896 new residents. The lessons had to take place in shifts. Also because a hospital was still housed in the school building in 1946. The school is a primary and community school (the first in the district of Segeberg, by the way) of the school association in Itzstedt. It was created in 2007 from two previously independent schools.
