From the outside, the building gives little - inside is absolute ban on photography. An absolute must when in Bayeux. People who are less interested in history - may not quite understand this - but I thought it was just fantastic as history was depicted pictorially!

The Bayeux tapestry is an embroidery work from the second half of the 11th century. The picture shows in many individual scenes the conquest of England by William the Conqueror.

The tapestry of Queen Mathilde which was kept in Bayeux Cathedral was almost destroyed during the Second World War. She is now in this magnificent museum. you will follow the story of William the Bastard who will become William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy and first King of England. It is a real comic strip before the hour of more than eighty meters in length and also the oldest tapestry in France. It dates from the eleventh century.
