A historic site, Denmark's oldest social institution, and one of the oldest inhabited building complexes in the country. A modern residence with cultural and historical values beyond the ordinary, located in the heart of Aalborg.
Today, the purpose of Aalborg Monastery is to operate, preserve, and utilize the monastery. This is achieved, on the one hand, by ensuring a safe community for the residents of the 27 rental apartments and, on the other, by
an open cultural institution that conveys the very special history and function
of the monastery since 1431.
Initially, it was a Catholic monastery where the Order of the Holy Spirit provided mercy and care for the sick and weak. After the Reformation in 1536, it served as Aalborg's Diocesan Hospital and for over 300 years as the home of the Aalborg Cathedral School.aalborgkloster.dk
