A few steps up, the hermitage of St. Montanus (= Saint Montan, the namesake of the village), who was born in Germania towards the end of the 4th century, is clinging to the rock. Coming from a noble family, he was brought up from earliest childhood in piety and in the exercise of Christian virtues. Later he distributed his fortune to the poor and decided to go to Lorraine to live in solitude and poverty. - Two half-caves closed with a wall towards the valley and a cross on a rock point in front of it tell of it.

The path is strenuous but worth it. Be careful on your head on the stairs.
