The Kesseltse Kip is located between Kesselt and Veldwezelt. And the word Kip comes from the ground 'kippen'. That ground came from the construction of the Albert Canal, which created a hill and that is why it is called the Kesseltse Kip.

On the hill, along one of the walking paths that are there, you will find a smaller hill with a staircase, a so-called terp with a whopper of a stone. And there is also an orientation circle above where you know what you are seeing with all those beautiful views.

There are also various information boards. About the Kip and about related themes such as the Second World War because it started here in the area and the Kip was partly constructed in such a way that the entire defense line in the region was strengthened by the height of the hill.

Here is what the municipality of Lanaken has to say about the Kesseltse Kip and the mound: "This artificial hill is a striking point in the agricultural area between Kesselt and Veldwezelt. The area consists of wooded slopes, grasslands and fields. On the Kesseltse Kip you will also find many hedges and wood edges. In implementation of the Euregional project 'Landmarks', a small mound was constructed that serves as an orientation hill. At the top you have a wide view over the Haspengouw fields."
