Since 1996, the entire area on the western side of the Bogensee has been a listed building. These include three buildings from 1939: the so-called Waldhof am Bogensee with service and garage buildings, the country residence of Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels. A rather modest property that served as a cultural meeting place and official residence during the war years.

The fireplace in the large reception room no longer exists, but the legendary terrace windows, which disappeared into the floor at the touch of a button to reveal the path to the terrace. The 1938 Siemens motor was intact for a long time. At that time, such automatically retractable panoramic windows were only available at Hitler's on Obersalzberg and at Göring's in nearby Carinhall in Schorfheide. After the war, the FDJ used the room for lectures to prospective youth functionaries. Wilhelm Pieck was there, Otto Grotewohl, Hermann Axen, Paul Wandel, Erich Honecker - in short: those who were to make up the leadership of the later GDR.
