The floor plan in the form of a Greek cross is absolutely symmetrical.
The builder was probably Bishop Milo von Minden.
Of the only four known buildings of this type, only the Holy Cross Chapel in Trier is still preserved, which makes this find a rarity. The remains of the wall are therefore protected since 2003 by a glass protective structure.
