The Auguste windmill in Gross Wittensee
One of the most beautiful and best-preserved windmills in our country is located in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein, embedded in the beautiful landscape of the Hüttener Berge nature park, directly on the Wittensee!
The cellar hollander built in 1874 - with a compass rose and jalousie wings - was extensively restored from 1998 to 2001 and is now windy and grindable again. It has both a wind power and an electric grinding gear, so that you can show the many interested visitors how to grind grain even without much wind. The function and handling of the sifter, oat crusher, elevator, cake crusher and wind sweeper are also explained as part of a mill tour!
