The former cemetery chapel was first mentioned in documents in 1523, but was probably built around 1500, around 1500, when St. Wendelin was most venerated. St. Wendelin was the patron saint of shepherds and farmers. His chapels were usually set up on busy country paths to encourage farmers to offer a short prayer.

After being used as a barn for a long time, the building was renovated in 1964 and has since served as a memorial to those who fell in the two world wars.
