Hiking

In Central Europe, inland dunes and drifting sand fields are spatially separated from the coastal dunes on the North and Baltic Sea coasts. They are wind-produced, aeolian formations of sand (dunes). They were mainly blown up under cold-climatic, periglacial conditions at the end of the Vistula or Würm Ice Age, a little more than 10,000 years ago. Their development in the post-glacial period is based primarily on human influence.
