The Holy Cross Church on the so-called Kaulhügel is probably designed in its original form as a fortified church and includes a gate tower, the surrounding church field and a mighty defensive wall with strong struts on the south side. Gaden is documented in the churchyard in 1319. The age of the tower cannot be proven with certainty. However, it was rebuilt and redesigned in 1687. In 1705, today's church was rebuilt while retaining the early Gothic tower basement.

The valuable pulpit of an unknown artist also dates from this period. There are beautifully carved wooden reliefs in the four fields on the pulpit body and on the staircase. A two-story wooden gallery is built along the northern long side of the nave.

The church's current appearance results from many renovation and redesign work:
First in 1892, then in 1966, last time in 1999 (complete interior renovation) and 2006 (complete exterior renovation).

Today's baroque church building essentially dates back to 1705. However, there are also older structures, especially in the area of the tower (early Gothic basement). Predecessor buildings probably had the character of a fortified church, which offered protection to the population in the event of war. The mighty defensive wall on the south side of the hill on which the church stands still bears witness to this. Also interesting inside are the elaborate wooden ceiling and vault cladding, which radiate a very unique character.

The evangelical Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche stands on a hill in the center of the village. It is a fortified church with a protective wall and a two-storey nave. Its origin dates back to the 12th century.
