The Catholic parish church of the Assumption of Mary is located at Kirchplatz 2 in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia) in Bavaria. Its choir was built between 1483 and 1487. The nave was added between 1517 and 1544 and, for cost reasons, was given a flat wooden ceiling.

The first chapel in Lichtenfels was most likely built during the reign of the Dukes of Merania. At the beginning of the second half of the 13th century, the foundation stone for a new church was laid in the consecrated ground on which the chapel stood. The new church can be traced back to 1307. The 72 m high tower and the baptismal chapel date from this period.
