Hiking

In Vörie is the “thousand year oak”, which also adorns the village coat of arms. The tree has a trunk circumference of 7.5 meters and is one of the most powerful trees in Lower Saxony. After a lightning strike on September 19, 2014, the interior of the tree caught fire despite intensive fire-fighting efforts by the fire department. Afterwards the oak had to be massively trimmed. The chest height is 7.39 m (2016).
