The house with its old architecture is very lovingly designed, you don't see the old age in it.

If you go in there is a library on the left where you can also buy school books

The oldest building on the Neustadt side is the “Stone House”. In 1356 the canons, who had previously lived on the other side of the Fulda in the collegiate monastery, which had become too cramped, had it built here. At the time of construction, the house was still on an island, surrounded by an arm of the Fulda. The foundation walls in the cellar are up to three meters thick. According to legend, there was a secret passage to the nearby collegiate church, which was built from 1370 onwards. The merchant Johann Casper Aitinger bought the house, had the half-timbered tower added and redesigned the portal in 1686 with the coat of arms and initials of him and his wife. A crouching stone monk figure looks down at the corner of the house. To date, nobody knows what the significance of this figure is. Literature tip: Lilli Möller - Rotenburg, a guided tour through town and history, 1996, p. 46.
