The part of the Katzenkopf cottage that is open towards the valley offers a great view of Rotenburg.

The Katzenkopf house on the Katzenberg is a weather shelter for hikers. It opens up a small view of Rotenburg from above, but only in fragments. It's still worth a visit though, as the cottage itself is lovely, beautifully decorated and has some lovely verses on its interior walls.

View from the cat's head house. As early as 1888, members of the “Rotenburg Beautification Association” and the “Alheimer Club” had the idea of building a shelter that could be seen from afar on the then still treeless cat's head. After delays and various difficulties, the plan could only be implemented 10 years later. In 1998, on the 100th birthday, the lookout house was lovingly restored. Many helping hands, associations, local companies, etc. responded to a call from the two leading associations, the Rotenburg Housewives Association and the Rural Clothing Working Group, and contributed to the success. Literature tip: All about the cat's head - Festschrift zur Renovierung, 1998.
