This inconspicuous house had avant-garde residents a good 100 years ago - the Krefeld Rhenish expressionists Heinrich Nauen and Helmuth Macke. And Heinrich Campendonk also stopped by Orbroich more often. Only a sign on a gate reminds of Nauen today. In April 1902 he rents the cottage. Even before he moved in, the Kate, popularly known as "Der Düwel", served as an artist hostel. And it remained so when Nauen finally moved out in 1910.

100 years ago, the Lower Rhine Expressionists Nauen, Macke, Campendonk and Thorn-Prikker met in a cottage in Orbroich, called "Der Düvel", to paint there.

Here you see a real old farmer's barn. It is a bit run down but nice to look at. In the middle of this village you will find a monument to the 1st world war. Boys who came from this village. There are only a few houses but there are many names on the monument
