The myth of the Stammbahn: The first Prussian railway from 1838. It ran from Berlin to Potsdam without today's detour via Wannsee. Most of the route is in operation today (from Yorckstraße to Zehlendorf and from Griebnitzsee to Potsdam). But the piece in between - via Düppel - has partially disappeared.
After 1945 the line was not put back into operation, especially since the line crossed the city limits three times, and even five times after the Bernhard-Beyer-Strasse area was swapped. All trains went via Wannsee. Only the short West Berlin piece Zehlendorf - Düppel has been served as a stitch by the S-Bahn since 1948. Because between Düppel and Griebnitzsee the route lay exactly on the zone border of GDR and West Berlin. In 1961 the route was converted to fortify the border. The S-Bahn Zehlendorf - Düppel ran until the Reichsbahn strike in 1980.

There are serious plans to rebuild the route for regional traffic. But the hectic hustle and bustle at first has passed and now the project is no longer classified as a priority.

The railway line Berlin-Wannsee-Stahnsdorf, also Friedhofsbahn, was a side rail electrified branch line in Berlin and Brandenburg, which served the Berlin S-Bahn traffic. It led from Wannsee to the station Stahnsdorf and served above all for the connection of the there southwest cemetery.

Historically important ruin. I always find something like that interesting.
