From Lenggries, after an 8 hour train ride, I take the pre-booked taxi into Hinterriss. At the customs station we leave the taxi and walk across the green meadow to access the ascent to the Karwendelhaus.

Following the Johannesbachtal, the path finally ends in the small Ahornboden, which invites you to take a break. The last meters of altitude are covered quickly and dinner and cool drinks round off the day before it gets "serious" the next day.
