When you first enter the Stone Sea, it will take your breath away. On the gray plateau you will hardly find vegetation and on all sides rise sharp and rugged peaks. Directly through this stony desert leads the way from the Bavarian Kärlingerhaus to the Salzburg Riemannhaus.

We come up here once a year.

      Then Almer pilgrimage is:

The path across the stone sea is a very special experience.

      I can only recommend.

After the mass, we hike with the pastor and chapel to the Kärlingerhaus

The Steinernes Meer is a high plateau between the Watzmann massif, Königssee, Hagengebirge, Hochkönigstock and Hochkalter massif. It looks like a sea with waves turned to stone, hence the name. Very impressive and mostly good to run. Suitable for dogs but absolutely must stay on the trail!
