Mountaineers Monument in Katowice - a monument located in Katowice, located in the Kościuszko Park, in the vicinity of the historic church of St. Michael the Archangel. This obelisk commemorates the tragically deceased climbers - members of the Katowice Mountaineering Club.
The idea of the monument was born in the environment of Katowice climbers in the 1970s, after the tragic death of Henryk Furmanik in 1974 in the Canadian Saint Elijah Mountains. Ultimately, it was implemented in 2015.
The author of the design was Bogumił Burzyński, and the monument itself was unveiled on October 28, 2015.
