Abandoned in 1806, the Convent of Santa Maria in Costantinopoli is part of the archaeological complex of Olevano sul Tusciano. It is worth stopping to admire the view and imagine what the Convent was like before it was abandoned.

Very suggestive place, unfortunately it is not possible to visit it internally.

Among the most interesting sites of Olevano sul Tusciano, one rich in history and glory and certainly deserving of greater attention and respect, is undoubtedly the Dominican convent of "Santa Maria di Costantinopoli" in Borgo Valle. It is, together with the cave of San Michele and the Lombard castle, one of the most important archaeological monuments of Olevano sul Tusciano.

The convent was built starting from 1553. An intense religious activity developed within it, and the convent itself became a place of worship and management of the goods of the bishopric.

The sixteenth-century Dominican convent was abandoned following the Royal decree of 14 August 1806 issued by Gioacchino Murat, king of Naples, which suppressed all convents with less than twelve professed religious, despite the fact that the same could boast a thriving economic situation and substantial support of the faithful.
