Above the Sinntal runs the border between the federal states of Hesse and Bavaria or the predecessor territories of the Kingdom of Prussia (initial KP) and the Kingdom of Bavaria (KB). The historical boundary stones from the 19th century are largely preserved here. However, this is not the ancient limit. The Fulda Monastery once also included Brückenau and extended beyond that to Hammelburg. Only with the dissolution of the Fulda monastery and the new borders during the Napoleonic era did some offices come to Bavaria in 1816.
