Here in the Kaiser Wilhelm Grove - at the foot of the Hinnenburg - are five dead from the First World War (1914-1918) and 281 dead from the Second World War (1939-1945). The war cemetery Brakel was on September 11, 1954 by President Dr. Gustav Galle, Detmold, inaugurated and is today in the custody of the district Höxter.
On Memorial Day, the Kaiser Wilhelm Hain is a place of remembrance, but at any time it is a memorial and memorial. It is the legacy of these dead to the living to stand up for understanding, peace and reconciliation between people and peoples.
