The Hollandersgatkreek is an extension of the Blokkreek and is separated from it by a dam. The creek is a remnant of the Hollandersgat that emerged after the All Saints Flood of 1570 and the subsequent inundations by the Geuzen.
The Hollandersgatkreek is connected to the Kruiskreek, which is located on Dutch territory and is connected to the Passageule via a complicated creek system.
The area is European protected as part of the Natura 2000 area 'Polders'
