Neßmersiel itself is a district of Dornum, but lies a few km northwest of it. The village consists largely of holiday homes. The port, a little to the north, is the ferry port to the island of Baltrum. There was already a port here - further inland - at the end of the 16th century, but it silted up again and again. This is how the new ferry port was ultimately created. At the Hafenspitze there is a restaurant and an artificially raised beach section.
