The last descendants of the dinosaurs in small format are at home at the dam - the sand lizards. The sand lizards mainly live in the embankment of the dam. The piles of stones erected at the foot of the air side along the stream were made as "replacement apartments" for the sand lizards during the construction work to renovate the dam in 2011-12, but now also offer protection to many other animals such as the slow worm.
