The "Lazy Hunter" is a 6 m high sacrificial stone and has a circumference of 24 m. It is said that the pagan Saxons worshipped their supreme god Wodan at this spot. At set times, the ancient Saxons from all over the area met here and made sacrifices.
Another legend tells that the stone was given the name "Lazy Hunter" because a guard there was taken by surprise by the enemy.

From the lookout point on the eastern edge of the Karlsschanze, you can reach the “Lazy Hunter” in just a few minutes on a narrow, overgrown rock path: a sandstone block 6 meters high and 24 meters in circumference.
The unusual shape of the rock has inspired many myths and legends. According to popular belief, this block is an old Saxon sacrificial stone.
According to legend, the name of the stone comes from the fact that a Saxon guard was surprised by a Frankish warrior while he was sleeping.
