The sculpture "The Mourner" (2015) by sculptor Wolfgang Friedrich is located opposite the Regional Museum and depicts an emaciated woman struggling to support herself. The sculpture commemorates approximately 6,200 women who were imprisoned in the two subcamps of the Ravensbrück concentration camp in Neubrandenburg from 1942 to 1945 and forced to work in armaments factories.
