The Catholic parish church of St. Jakob was built between 1890 and 1893. The church tower from 1606 was built from stones from the Kreuzberg Church in Wiesau for the previous church, a neo-Romanesque basilica.
The three-aisled building has a recessed chancel that closes on three sides. The wall paintings show scenes from the lives of Peter and Paul, and below them are medallions with saints and prophets. The altar vault shows the Maiestas domini on a gold mosaic background.

The parish church of St. Jacob was built in 1890 in the neo-Romanesque style and is already the third church in this place. The two older buildings fell victim to fire disasters. From the older church are still the saints Peter and Paul. The church tower, the landmark of the city, was built in 1606 and is the oldest building in Mitterteich. The tower was inhabited until 1930 by the family of the Türmers.
