The natural monument has a size of around 1.2 hectares and was designated in 1991!

The former factory premises of the brickworks were redesigned to the brickworks park by 1995. The 10-meter-high loess wall on the former company premises, created by the brickworks dismantling, was declared a two-dimensional natural monument together with a 40-meter-wide protective strip in front of it.

    ...

The main protection purpose is the preservation of ecologically valuable areas with occurrences of specially protected hymenoptera species (bees, bumblebees and wasps) and butterfly species that are acutely endangered by changes in the surface structure in the former brick complex.

Due to the numerous border structures in the area of the former Böckingen brickworks, the area has a particularly large variety of plants and animal species and functions as a habitat for numerous, sometimes endangered, animal and plant species. There is also an urgent need for protection, in particular in order to preserve the remaining populations of the hymenoptera and butterfly species that are threatened with extinction and on the Red List and to create a regeneration option for stocks that have shrunk.

In addition, the profile of the clay pit shows significant geological information, which must be preserved for geological, pedological, landscape and natural history as well as regional and cultural reasons.

This natural monument is located in the middle of the Brickworks Park. The park is very beautiful for enjoying nature. Some small parts of the park (like this monument) should not be entered in order to preserve nature.

The area in front of the loess wall and most of the shore areas of the lake should not be entered, so that nature can also unfold here in the recreation area for people. So everyone has something of the former brickworks.
