The exact construction time of the church is unknown. The tower and choir probably date from the 14th century, the nave around the second half of the 15th century. The baroque era took place in the 18th century. After the history of the parishes of the Bishop of Bamberg, the church is said to have been founded by Iro-Scottish missionaries. According to other authors, she is said to have built Bishop Wolfger of Würzburg 823 as a so-called "Slavic Church". The original parish Wachenroth remained connected since its founding until 1807 of the Diocese of Würzburg.
