The ship Regentag represents an important period in Hundertwasser's life; he lived and painted on it for ten years. It was his home, his land, his headquarters. Hundertwasser has been interested in ships since his childhood and dreamed of ships as painters: "Singing steamers", "mouth boats", portholes, steamer chimneys and the Regentag itself appear again and again in his paintings.
