Friedensreich Hundertwasser lived and painted for 10 years on the "Regentag"
July 19, 2021
Hundertwasser's heart and soul - Not only in Egon Schiele's birthplace can you experience the living environment of a great artist, but also in the guest harbor - this is where the ship "Regentag" of the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser is moored. It gives visitors an authentic impression of the artist's life on his numerous journeys. The name "Regentag" is the third name Hundertwasser gave to his ship - and which the ship gave back to him. The ship Regentag represents an important period in Hundertwasser's life; he lived and painted on it for ten years. It was his home, his land, his headquarters. Hundertwasser has been interested in ships since his childhood and dreamed of ships as painters: "Singing steamers", "mouth boats", portholes, steamer chimneys and the Regentag itself appear again and again in his paintings.
