Groups of smaller mounds lie between the larger burial mounds. While the large mounds, which may contain stone chests, are from the Early Bronze Age, the smaller ones are from the Younger Bronze Age or Older Iron Age. This applies not only to the 70 preserved burial mounds in the protected area, but also to the burial mound field that once stretched west to Goldbeck and beyond.

At the entrance to the burial ground is a memorial stone with the following inscription:
“The farm owner, Hans Hinrich Detje, looked after this old burial ground in Goldbeck and handed it over to the district of Stade in an accommodating manner. 1926."

Hiking

There are over 70 grave mounds in the Goldbeck Heath, some of which are up to 5000 years old. Some of them can be seen from the path. A visit is particularly worthwhile when the heather is in bloom (August / September).
