It suits me slightly better now to go up Old Gloucester road through Gaunts Earthcott and Hortham then down Fernhill into Tockington these days, but this is the go to route to wales for anyone living on the west side of Gloucester Road. One of the options for getting here is through Blaise Castle as well.

Don't forget to pack some gears for Ingst, it's steep enough to get you out of the saddle for a second, but is small change compared to everything beyond the bridge.
