Exmoor was epic but glad the weather was kind. A very wet night and day but luckily the rain eased as we went over the top (which takes hours) couldn’t see much as we were in cloud and mist but when we reached the cairn on Dunkery Beacon it was definitely worth it.

Day one of a three day ride to Port Issac using some of the GBduro route (in reverse). We took the scenic route out of Bristol through Ashton court to Bourton Combe and eventually an alternative bridal way up and over Cheddar and then an important Pasty stop at Wedmore. The GBduro route is definitely not the most direct, easy or flat route 😂 You will be hiking at some point and enjoying the view. Once over the Mendip hills it was plain sailing to Bridgewater. Quick coffee stop there and then on to Quantocks, where the weather started to turn..... wet. Somerton Combe and Biknoller Post were stunning sections but by now the rain jackets were on and we needed to put the tents up. With a lot of luck (and permission) we pitched up in a small orchard in the pouring rain and we were completely soaked. Rehydrated Carbonara - night night.
